Storm Proxies vs Byteful

Byteful is the new name of Ping Proxies, rebranded in 2026. It sells residential proxies by the gigabyte across 195+ locations, plus datacenter, ISP and mobile IPs. Storm Proxies sells flat monthly plans with no data meter, for work in the USA and EU. If you came here searching for a Ping Proxies alternative, this is the same company under a new name. Here’s how the two compare.

Prices checked October 2026

Pick Storm Proxies if…

  • Your residential traffic runs to tens or hundreds of GB a month. Storm residential ports have unlimited bandwidth, so 5 ports stay at $50/month however much you pull.
  • You run SEO tools that want a fresh IP per request: Storm’s rotating gateway draws on 700,000+ datacenter IPs from $14/month.
  • You want a ready-made pack for ticket sites, AIO Bot or social accounts instead of a general-purpose plan.
  • You prefer a simple money-back window: 24 hours on the smallest package of each type, first order.

Pick Byteful if…

  • You need residential IPs outside the USA and EU. Byteful lists 195+ locations with country, region, city and ISP targeting.
  • You need SOCKS5. Byteful supports HTTP and SOCKS5; Storm sells HTTP(S) only.
  • Your usage is light or irregular. Byteful’s residential data never expires, so a 10 GB pack can last for months.
  • You want to try before paying: Byteful advertises a 1 GB residential free trial.
  • You want API access and sticky residential sessions of up to 24 hours.

Looking for a Byteful alternative?

Byteful (Ping Proxies until 2026) is a solid pick for people who need residential IPs in a specific city or country and buy data in small amounts. Things change when the crawl gets bigger. Every residential gigabyte is billed, and the public plan cards stop at 100 GB, so a busy month means a bigger top-up or a custom quote.

Storm Proxies takes the meter away. You pay for ports, threads or proxies, and the traffic through them is unlimited. What you give up: Storm’s IPs are in the USA and EU (rotating proxies also have a Worldwide option), there’s no city targeting, and we sell HTTP(S) only.

100 GB of residential traffic, side by side

Take a mid-sized job: an e-commerce price tracker that pulls about 100 GB a month through US residential IPs. This is Byteful’s most popular residential tier, so the comparison is fair to them. Both prices are as listed today.

Byteful residential, 100 GB plan$275$2.75 per GB. When the 100 GB is gone, you buy more.
Storm Proxies residential, 5 ports$50/moUnlimited bandwidth. 100 GB this month, 400 GB next month, same bill.

One detail cuts in Byteful’s favour: its residential data never expires. If your tracker only needs 20 GB some months, the leftover traffic waits for you, and a $32.50 pack of 10 GB may be all you ever buy. Storm’s plans are monthly, so you pay for the ports whether you use them hard or not.

Static IPs are closer. Byteful’s 10 datacenter IPs cost $20/month, with unlimited bandwidth through them. Storm’s 5 private dedicated proxies cost $10/month, also unlimited. Per IP that’s a draw. The differences are elsewhere: Byteful’s datacenter IPs sit in New York, Miami and Germany and support SOCKS5, while Storm’s are in Cheyenne, LA and New York, come as virgin IPs on a 1 Gbps network, and allow 100 concurrent threads.

Ping Proxies is now Byteful: what that means for you

Byteful’s own announcement says Ping Proxies is now Byteful, and that existing API keys and traffic keep working. So if you used Ping Proxies before, your keys and traffic carry over. Residential is still billed by the gigabyte, static IPs by the address.

The question for most buyers isn’t the name. It’s whether paying per GB still makes sense for the size of your job.

Two ways to pay for residential IPs

Byteful sells traffic. 10 GB costs $32.50, 25 GB costs $75 and 100 GB costs $275. The price per GB falls as you buy more, and bigger volumes are quoted on request. Unused data stays on your account even if you pause or cancel.

Storm sells connections. One residential port is $19/month, 5 ports $50, 10 ports $90, and up to 100 ports for $550. Each port gives you an IP from a 20M+ pool that changes every 5 minutes, and the data through it isn’t counted. If your workload is steady and heavy, that’s the cheaper shape. If it’s small and patchy, per-GB billing can win.

Where Byteful is stronger

  • Location choice. 195+ residential locations with country, region, city and ISP targeting. Storm residential is USA or EU.
  • SOCKS5 and an API. Both are included on Byteful’s plans. Storm is HTTP(S) with no API.
  • Data that doesn’t expire. Good for occasional jobs.
  • More product types. Byteful also sells mobile and static residential (ISP) proxies, which Storm doesn’t.
  • Session control. Rotate on every request or hold a sticky residential IP for up to 24 hours.

Where Storm Proxies is stronger

  • Heavy residential use at a fixed price. Unlimited bandwidth on every residential port.
  • A rotating datacenter gateway. 10 threads for $14/month up to 200 threads for $147, with a new IP on every request or every 3 or 15 minutes from 700,000+ IPs.
  • Instant access. Pay, and your gateway IPs are live straight away. Cancel anytime.
  • Use-case packs. Residential setups for AIO Bot and ticket sites, and private proxies for social accounts.

Who each one is best for

Price monitoring and scraping

Steady US or EU crawls that eat through gigabytes: Storm residential. Targets in a particular city or a country outside Europe and North America: Byteful.

Rank tracking and link tools

Tools like Scrapebox and GSA SER run many threads and want a new IP per request. Storm’s rotating proxies are built for that, starting at 10 threads for $14/month.

Account management

One account, one steady IP. Storm’s private Instagram and Facebook proxies come in packs of 5 for $15/month. Byteful’s static residential IPs are an option if you need an ISP address.

Occasional research

A few GB now and then: Byteful’s non-expiring data is hard to beat for that.

FAQ

Storm Proxies vs Byteful: questions people ask

What’s the best Byteful alternative?

If per-GB residential billing is what’s pushing you away and your targets are in the USA or EU, Storm Proxies is a good match: residential ports from $19/month and rotating datacenter threads from $14/month, all with unlimited bandwidth. If you rely on city targeting, SOCKS5 or 195+ locations, you’ll want another large global residential network instead.

Is Byteful the same as Ping Proxies?

Yes. Byteful says Ping Proxies was rebranded as Byteful in 2026 and that existing API keys and traffic keep working.

Is Storm Proxies cheaper than Byteful for residential proxies?

At steady, high volume, yes. 100 GB on Byteful’s residential plan is $275, while Storm’s 5 residential ports are $50/month with unlimited data (prices checked October 2026). For a few GB a month, Byteful’s smaller packs cost less, and the data doesn’t expire.

Does Byteful offer a free trial?

Byteful advertises a 1 GB residential free trial, and its KYC policy says free trial users go through verification. Storm doesn’t have a free trial. The smallest package of each Storm proxy type has a 24-hour money-back guarantee on your first order.

Can I get SOCKS5 or city targeting with Storm Proxies?

No to both. Storm sells HTTP(S) proxies with USA and EU locations (plus Worldwide on rotating proxies). Byteful offers SOCKS5 and city-level targeting.

How do I move from Byteful to Storm Proxies?

Buy a plan, add your access IP in the member area, and swap your Byteful endpoint for the Storm gateway IPs in your scraper or tool. Rotation runs on our side, so there’s no session code to change.
